Mumtalakat Recognises the Efforts of Its Female Employees in Bahraini Women’s Day Celebrations

On the occasion of Bahraini Women’s Day, Bahrain Mumtalakat Holding Company (Mumtalakat), the sovereign wealth fund of the Kingdom of Bahrain along with its real estate arm, Edamah reaffirmed their on-going commitment towards gender parity in a reception that took place at the company’s premises on Thursday 7th December 2017.

The reception gathered the company’s female employees and senior Bahraini women engineers in its portfolio companies representing Gulf Air, Aluminium Bahrain (Alba), Batelco, Bahrain International Circuit (BIC) and Bahrain Airport Company (BAC).

During the celebration, Mahmood H. Alkooheji, Chief Executive Officer of Mumtalakat recognised the hard work and achievements of the companies’ female employees and particularly those of women in the engineering sector. This was following the Bahraini Women’s Day celebrations under the patronage of HRH Princess Sabeeka bint Ebrahim Al Khalifa, wife of HM King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, the president of the Supreme Council for Women.

Speakers at the reception shared their stories within the engineering sector and included Muna Al Hashemi – Deputy CEO of Batelco Group, Basema Al Mahroos – Senior Vice President of APICORP and Linda Mattar – Vice President Projects in Edamah.

Commenting on the role of Bahraini women in society, Mahmood H. Alkooheji, CEO of Mumtalakat said, “We would like to extend our thanks to HRH Princess Sabeeka bint Ebrahim Al Khalifa for her continuous efforts to enhance the position of Bahraini women. According to the World Economic Forum’s Global Gender Gap Report, Bahrain today is ranked 4th in the Middle East and North Africa region for reducing the gender gap. This reflects the country’s efforts towards supporting Bahraini women in the workforce. At Mumtalakat, we’re proud to set an example of gender equality where opportunities are available to everyone and women make up 46% of our staff.”

Mumtalakat is currently recognising the work of the outstanding employees across the Group in Bahrain and has launched a national day campaign. ‘Many stories, one Bahrain’ seeks to commemorate the nominees of its local companies by shedding light on their efforts and values as important participants in national growth. Through its Bahrain companies, Mumtalakat provides approximately 14,000 direct employment opportunities, impacting thousands of families, across the country.
